Sort of. It bugs me that it is now perfectly feasible to own a TV and never watch the BBC, so why should we be forced to fund it - should it not go subscription?
The Beeb does produce some excellent programs, but also some dross, so I don't buy the 'we need the fee to ensure independent, quality programing' line. I do agree that the lack of commercial pressure can give rise to an independent, non-partisan approach - but not all programs need that! I'd like to see a slim line Beeb, sticking to what they have been praised for, News, documentaries and the occasional quality drama, and a reduced licence fee. Leave the quiz shows, soaps and reality trash to commercial TV!

Yes I never watch anything on the BBC. I think the shows are dull, and are very un-entertaining, If I could I would pay to get rid of the BBC, not to keep it, call it a prevention of bad programming licence and I would sign up.

that would want to be as a lot because the Scottish authorities, if independence got here about (and that i strongly doubt it is going to ensue). human beings in the Republic of eire do no longer pay a BBC television License, any more suitable than different international locations outdoors the united kingdom e.g. France do. they could properly be in a position to receive BBC channels (through aerial or satellite tv for pc), yet that's only an advantage fairly than some thing they pay for through expenses. even with each and every thing, television alerts are in elementary words sure to the regulations of physics, they don't recognize nationwide borders.

No I wouldn't. I've lived in many countries, in most of which you have to pay a similar sort of tax, and I think the BBC is by far the best public broadcasting company I have ever seen. I think it's money well spent.

If you receive any transmitted channels you still have to have a license, the license is for the dubious privilege of receiving transmissions. The only way not to pay for a license is to remove your aerial.
