How do you learn to do them? Is there a less painful way other than having someone push you down?

A person's own body weight should be sufficient. Just make sure you exercise and stretch on a regular basis, and eventually you'll get there. Also, people's muscles are more flexible if they stretch in a warm room than a cold one.

Depends on how fast one expects to do them. Some people never 'get there'.
