Bill Mazeroski Game 7, October 23, 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates

Joe Carter Game 6, October 23, 1993 Toronto Blue Jays

Mazeroski's HR to lead off the 9th ends the Series, giving the Pirates their first championship since 1925.

Carter hits a 3-run homer with 1 out to give Toronto its second consecutive championship; unlike the Pirates in 1960, the Blue Jays were trailing at the time.

the yankees outscored the pirates in that series, but i think joe carters might have been more impressive. game 6 i think, and it was very cool. i have seen the highlights, and it was a big thing, especially with a canadian team winning americas sport

The way that you word the question makes it seem like you think Carter's homerun was the better walk off homerun; however, I believe that Mazeroski's was the better of the two. The Pirates weren't given a chance to beat the Yankees and hadn't won a championship in a long time. If you go back and look at the total runs scored in the Pirates-Yankees series, the Yanks totally dominated in the 3 games that they won, and the Yankees barely lost in the 4 games they lost. Mazeroski's homerun was in game 7 while Carter's was in game 6, so even if the Blue Jays lost that game, they still would have had a chance to win it all the next night (at home).

Both walkoffs were great, but Mazeroski's was more improbable, thus the better of the two.

I forgot the year (I think 88) but best walk off HR was in World Series play. It won game in bottom of ninth. Dodgers were playing (A's I think) it was game seven bottom of ninth dodgers were down. Manager Tommy Lasorda sent in pinch hitter. Now the pinch hitter was Kirk Gibson but heres what most did not know. Kirk had a serious back injury and could barely walk. He thought Tommy nuts he knew if he hit single to right right fielder would throw him out at first he was hurt that much. Well Mr. Gibson solved that by sending the ball into cheap seat to win game for Dodgers. That was best walk off Home run EVER! It wasn't that it won game or even championship but Gibson was so hurt along with all the other factors that and maybe Tommy was psychic lol

Correction made to please thos who felt need to correct my mistakes because I had forgotten some details from 18 years ago. since that time I have had more important memories so forgive my details mistake fact still ther Gibson HR was the best!

I have to agree with David/Pilar but let's correct some info. . . .
1- it was Kirk Gibson
2- they were playing the oakland A's & it was a game in the world series but not the one that won the championship, but they did take that world series that year (1988)

Oct. 15, 1988: In the "Greatest Sports Moment in L.A. History," Kirk Gibson hobbles to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and belts a two-run walk-off home run off the game's best closer, Dennis Eckersley, to give the Dodgers a 5-4 win in Game 1 of the World Series. It was Gibson's only plate appearance in the Series.

And most recently, Nomar's walk-off homerun against the Padres, bottom of the 10th.
B'sides kirk gibson's walk-off homerun, Nomar had a great walk-off homerun for the Dodgers this year (09-18-06)

How about Jason Giambi's walkoff Grand Slam in the pouring rain in the 14th inning to beat Minnesota by 1 run.

Carter all the way. Unlike the other players carter had more preshure on him because his team as losing in a critical game 6 in 1993, and thire were more fans at that game then the other walk off homers had. So thire was more preshure to do something good infront of more fans then thire is to do infront of less fans.

Maz's home run, because:

1) It beat the Yankees, who are evil;
2) It was in Game 7; if Carter hadn't hit his, his team had one more game to try and win.
