I'm heavily into athletics of all kinds. The other day, my cross country coach pulled me aside and said he was going to kick me off the team. When I asked why he said because he knew the other girld on the team for 4yrs and only knew me for like 1 week. So im pretty upset....I told my mom, the principal spoke to him and he came back and said, "I HAVE to let you back on the team." He didnt say I WANT to, he said I HAVE... So I told him no. But im still upset about what happened. How can I deal w/ it and would you have done the same thing??

Do what you do feel is he best. The coach was bias and lost a prominent athlete. Coaches shouldn't let personal feelings hinder their decisions. I haven't encountered such a problem, but I wouldn't have done the same thing. I would probably just ignore him and try out for something else.
If the coach wants to be a douche, let him. Just forget about him and try out for something else. Don't let him drag your abilities down. Good luck.

The coach is definitely in the wrong. I think you had a lot of guts to do what you did and even though I'm sure you'll miss running, I believe you did the right thing. You seem like a person that doesn't compromise, that stands up for what you believe in and those are good qualities to take through life. Consider this a life lesson. There are plenty of jerks out in the 'real world' and you just ran into one. If you were my child, I'd want to go down there and have a talk with the coach myself and tell him a thing or two. Chances are you aren't the only one he's treated like this and hopefully more kids/parents will complain and effect a change if he doesn't straighten up.

This sounds like it is a popularity thing. Some people become teachers and coaches because they were not popular in high school, and now they get to make the rules, and pick who they want to pick. This may be the problem with your coach. If you want to be on the team, be on it. He has no choice but to let you be on it, he has already said so. So go and do what you want to. The principal, who is his boss, has already said he has no choice, so there is nothing wrong with your athletic skills. If you want to do cross country, do it. Dont let some bully, which is what this coach is, rule you and your life. If you want to do it, go for it!

I think you did the right thing by not going back, because he may have made it hard for you. But, on the other hand, maybe you should have went back because they went through the trouble of talking with the guy, and plus you were doing something you love. In any event, it's ok to be upset about it, but try not to bug out about it for too long. If you really don't want to go back on the team, then concentrate on other activities that you like. :)

Unfortunatly you're just gonna have to deal. Life is not fair or easy. Just because one person is mean to you doesn't mean you should waste your time obsessing or worrying about it. It's one person's opinion. If you really love running, stay on the team & do your best. You quiting is probably why he told you in the first place, that way he wouldn't really be responsible... Just let it go.
