80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

I agree with the fellow above me...I also feel that the meaning of life is simply to live and experience all it's different facets.
It would be nice if we could be as kind as possible to others along the way, but I honestly don't think that God is up there judging every little thing we do while we're here.
I believe that we all chose to experience this human incarnation and that we should make the most of it. I don't think we should always take the "safe" route, but take risks sometimes in order to experience life to the fullest.
Of course, there's also something to be said for being content, but if you're not, I think you should follow your bliss. Sometimes other people get hurt, but truly, if you're not happy, there's no way you can make others happy either.

If non-believing the biblical account; life came from primordal slime, is accidental, and has no meaning.
If believing (and I do) the biblical account: The no.1 purpose for the creation is the glorification of Christ - God's son (John Ch.1).
The purpose of creation and the Adamic fall; could glory to Christ be the reason after all? More magnificent a claim cannot be made. No more noble reason for existance laid; than for my existance to be, to glorify the one who is most holy. The Spirit written text does make the call, of one Lord supremely over all. With a secondary purpose in mind, of a merciful and a redeaming kind. All wraped up in this purpose too, could be salvation for me and you. I ask you now, does this ring true; creation made, and with good purpose too?

We are all on this earth for a purpose. This purpose is usually something unique to our personality, experiences in life and any professional training we have received in our life. Some people really go through tough stuff in their lives but there always is reason behind it like be able to come along side someone else going through it too.

I am the meaning of Life for myself, I bet you too...Any other meanings which is planted by others, societies, schools, philosophers, is highly questionable. Why bother with them, be meaning of Life for yourself....Oh endless search for a meaning of life begun long ago, when human separated himself from Life, declaring that Life happened outside of humans. That Human is Human and Life is Life. I believe that Two is inseparable and essentially the same thing. If there is no consciousness to perceive Life, then there is no Life at all.

If I can make life better for other people, then I feel better about myself. That's when I feel true happiness. For me, it's about helping your neighbor. I won't turn down a cry for help from someone. Sometimes it's just smiling and saying hi to someone in the grocery store, sometimes it's walking a dog, sometimes it's playing peekaboo with a small child, sometimes it's paying a compliment to someone who's feeling blue.

To evolve on a planet that had the chance to sustain life for a while, and as you grow older, learn to splash in puddles, smile, share apples with strangers and preserve the biosphere you are a part of.

Well you have two thumbs down for this question already!! and its a great question....so don't know what they were on?
O.K. from my view only...the meaning of life, and this is MY view.
It is to find.........who made us.
Who made all this, the wonderful world we live in.
I found who!....so I pass the test.
I follow who, and have never looked back.
That three letter word, is the meaning of life.........and unless your a fool, and I am sure your not! as you asked this vital
question....It all about connecting to GOD. Simple.
Knowing all about HIM....and saying thank goodness, I found the key!
