Our freedoms are in danger. We are surrendering them to the US government to fight the War on Terror. We have lost privacy due process even human rights are in peril, I guess you could blame the terrorist if you so choose they are the excuse the Government is using to take these liberties and freedoms away. I would suggest that the people most dangerous to your freedoms are the ones that are supposed to be representing the people of the United States.

First of all we're not fighting the terrorist. Our troops are simply referring a civil war.
The terrorist can't take away our freedom, unless they take over our country. However, George W. Bush seems to be doing their job for them.
The terrorist, at least the ones responsible for 9/11 have been given a pass by none other than George W. Busg and his administration (where's Osama?)
Indded. Why are we fighting? What are we fighting? And Who are we fighting?

We don't need to worry so much about foreign terrorists coming here to threaten our freedom, so logistics are irrelevant. The current administration is more of a threat to our freedoms, and liberty than an outsider thousands of miles away.

Terrorists take away your freedom by:
Making you scared to leave your homes
making you scared of going to some countries for holidays or work
Depriving you of jobs by scaring away foreign investors
Forcing the target country to release jailed terrorists
Taking away lives indiscrimately - therebt depriving people of their freedom to live
Forcing their ideals & beliefs onto others - eg, extreme islam, marxism, etc.
If sending soldiers to kill or capture terrorists to limit or stop the above from taking place, won't freedom be restored or at least safeguarded?

Its easy for those who want power to hire terrorists to limit our freedom and eventually take it away. heres how it works:
1. think of something you dont want people to have, or some law that you want to come up with that will limit peoples freedom, cost them money, or give you power over them. lets make one up now.....
TRAVEL PERMITS. everyone who wants to go somewhere has to get a travel permit 6 weeks in advance for every person, every trip. these cost about 250.00. when you apply for one, the govt searches through your personal records to figure out if you are a terrorist or not. they will not need a search warrant, because that will be written into the law. people who are registered to vote with the political party that is not in power will be under extra scrutiny. people who own firearms will be strip searched. people who do not like the political party that is in power will not be permitted to travel.
2. hire some terrorists to attempt to travel across Europe with fake passports and bomb materials. give an anonymous tip to the authorities
3. terrorists get caught.
4. begin to implement the "problem, reaction, solution" plan that has worked so well through recorded history
5. problem: hire the media to make the falsified passports into a problem. a huge problem. "fraud in the skies" will make a nice news special.
6. reaction. hire politicians, newspaper columnists, and a few regular people to over react to the problem. make everyone sorta believe that false passports are a HUGE problem that needs a drastic solution
7 solution: implement the travel permit law. grandstand, pat yourself on the back, hire newspaper columnists to praise you.
"But wait, that can't happen!" bullshit. it did happen. the Spanish/American war is the greatest example.
problem: Spanish attacked US ship (they didn't really attack a US ship, it was yellow journalism)
reaction: people and government really hate the Spanish
solution: war with Spain, take a bunch of new territories

Read 1984 by George Orwell. Freedom can only be lost when the government tricks the people into giving it away.

In case you have not noticed: They did it already! or, to be precise, your gouvernment did it for them.
From the time the new laws on prevention of terrorism are inacted
you can be arrested and detained without trial for having your credit card number stolen and used "for financing terrorist activity" if You can't prove your innocence.
How hard do you think that is for a gouvernment agency to arrange if they don't like you for some reason or other?

They can't...only our own government can do that and that is one of the goals of terrorism. They want you to react in ways that make you something you are not, because they do hate us for the freedoms of our society.
I have know enough Arab students at the University to see that they do envy us our freedoms, but that envy ultimately turns to anger and to hate. They decide that since these freedoms are denied them...they should be denied to all.
That's why we have to maintain our freedoms and continue to proudly wave them in front of those who would seek to take them from us.

by the act itself. if terrorists succeed in bringing our nation to its knees, then our freedom is lost, as we will effectively be rendered helpless. its nice to have a 'kiss my a$$ attitude" but unless we fight terrorism, they win. i hate the fact that american lives are lost in this battle, it breaks my heart. but if our soldiers won't fight for us, who will? the politicians? no, they are passing bills and earning a fat paycheck for sitting on their asses here....safe.
can i personally fight? no. i am fat, old and a lesbian. (lets remember homosexuals aren't welcome in the military). yes, we are there...just not allowed to be honest about it.
i'll shut up now ( i hear alot of 'amens' out there) lol
