The English language is referred to as a "living language." It changes and evolves constantly. We even speak differently than our parents and especially our grandparents. How many times have you laughed at how "uncool" your elder relatives are because they either use an expression or word that is no longer in use or they don't understand a new one?
Ah, here's a good example. When I was in HS in the 80's (yeah, I'm THAT old), the word "indeces" was considered the ONLY correct plural of "index." If you look up "index" in the dictionary, you'll note that both "indeces" and "indexes" is now accepted, as infuriating as that makes a purist such as I. Thus, the language evolves constantly.

Yeah tho' I was born in the New Worlde but six and thirty years ago, I speak as my forefathers spake. This "why do thee not useth" is far too latter-day for my liking, methinks "wherefore useth thou not" rings truer.

I think ye olde English maketh me to spit and biteth my tongue far too often to warrant a return to the use of it as seemeth thee good. But look thee well to yon Renaissance fairs and Shakespearean festivals where ye may find such individuals who thinketh along the same lines as thee, that it doth trip lightly on their tongues. As for myself, I receiveth the secondhand or hearsay report on the Shakespearean festival in Cedar City, Utah, from a friend who maketh it her fair custom to attend each summer, and from whence she returns brighter and lighter and as happy as a lark who doth strut about in the merrie sunshine.

Not that you really wanted a serious answer, but grammar and spelling standards were instituted for consistency among the few who could read and write because many were just going with the flow and there were very few solid rules established. Once more people were learning to read there had to be a way for every body to (forgive me) be on the same page.

Because (no matter how well you know grammar and vocabulary) the people we have to deal with, and find our mates among, find it off-putting to be spoken to in anything but the local lingua.
So you could choose to be educated in all you do, or you might want romance, (and eventually, children); so the more educated do not reproduce; and "Noble English" dies out.
