I think the most typical sign of a serious addiction is a lowering of standards. An addict, unlike someone else, MUST satiate his addiction sooner or later, and the longer it takes the lower he is generally willing to sink to do so.
Suppose, for example I was addicted to seeing movies. A lot of people might have trouble differentiating me from someone who just liked movies. The difference arises if no movies are showing that I like... as an addict, I'll see one anyway (why? who knows. addition isn't reasonable). Likewise, if we didn't have enough money to see a movie, many people would just wait until they did. An addict, on the other hand, would probably start cutting into other activites ("I don't need lunch tomorrow... I'll just save some popcorn"). Some addicts end up satiating their cravings more and more, so as a movie addict I might end up feeling I MUST catch all the premiers, even if it means skipping work or staying up late.
We hear extreme cases in the news, of people so addicted to drugs that they blow their rent money or steal from their friends and relatives, or so addicted to a videogame that they neglect their children or play for three straight days without sleep and die. Non-addicts maintain a sense of priority - they realize that fun is fun, but you still have responsibilities.
So if you're addicted to porn, you're probably spending more money that you can afford on it, bringing it to places you know you really shouldn't have it (like work or church), and perhaps looking at porn you don't even think you like sometimes (I'll leave that to your own imagination).
As to how you stop... well... if it were that easy there wouldn't be any addicts at all, really. Sometimes people have biochemical or psychological reasons for the cravings they have, but only a physician or a psychologist is likely to be able to tell you that with any confidence. A good friend can help steer you in the right direction sometimes. Some people can just quit 'cold turkey', and some people can't. I think the best thing you can do for starters is to not be ashamed of it and be ready to own up to it - admitting you have a problem and looking for help is a terrific first step!

How to avoid porn addiction on the Internet
1. Consider installing porn content filtering software( Strongly Recommend NetDog ,you can get it from www.netdogsoft.com ) on your computer. it will help to protect you from stumbling into pornography by accident, That's important.
2. Do not try to guess what the address of a Web page is. Many pornographic sites have similar addresses of respectable sites. For example www . whitehouse . com is a porn site. The real address is www. whitehouse . gov
3. Never click on Web site addresses that you receive in an unsolicited email.
4. Do not open attachments that come in email that are unsolicited.
5. Use filtered search engines or reputable directories to find the information you need.
6. Do not search for terms like girls. Think before you enter a search term.
Stick with reputable sites.
If something looks questionable, don't let curiosity get the best of you. Delete it or close the window.

"Addiction is a chronic disorder proposed to be precipitated by a combination of genetic, biological/pharmacological and social factors. Addiction is characterized by the repeated use of substances or behaviors despite clear evidence of morbidity secondary to such use."
The cure is just emerging as the internet has opened a can of worms that is overwhelming society. Sexual addictions can range from abnormal masturbation behaviors, pedophilia, child molestation, bestiality, and that thing with having sex with dead ppl (ewww). Each is a different chemical release of dopamine into the brain. Many times this need for the rush of dopamine into the brain is accompanied with cocaine (as cocaine also releases dopamine).
To start the road to recovery ... Start with seeing a psychologist, and tell them specifically that you need a refferal for treatment with sexual addictions. There are some medications, and shock treatments available.
