I have a dell xps 400 with windows xp pro. Someone put a
dvd disc with a program on it, i.e., not a blank one, into the
dvd-rw drive by mistake. Now i can't get it to eject. I have tried
my computer/dvd-rw(e)/eject, and the light flashes on it, but still
will not eject. Ideas ?

check the front of the drive and see if there is a tiny hole in the front. if there is thats a manual eject... if you have a pin or something you can stick in there and push and the cd drive should pop open.

I hate it when that happens....you have to turn off the computer manually (hold in the power button) and then re-start it. When the computer starts to load, press the eject button.

Sometimes, if it hasn't caused the computer to freeze up, you can cont>alt>del and stop the process in the task manager. Once it does that, it'll let you open it.

Look for a program that is not responding and end task it.

Otherwise, restart the comp, eject while it's booting.

Turn off the computer, and look for a small hole in the drive plate. Stich a paperclip in it and push firmly but gently (did I say that?) and voila! Open sesame!
