Have it evaluated by a stamp dealer (http://www.askphil.org can help you locate one near you). I would advise you to sell it to Mystic Stamp Co (http://www.mysticstamp.com); they'll give you your money's worth for it - which you may not get on Ebay.

I agree that Ebay would be a good place to get an idea of the value of your collection. You should also check into some local antique shops in your neighborhood. Very often you will find these individuals have a wealth of knowledge and love to talk! Good luck.

I use Ebay when I want to price things. There are people all over the world on there and I'm sure if you searched for stamps in that era you would find something.

Please start by going to http://www.virtualstampclub.com/inherit.html - this site will answer many of your questions and get you headed in the right direction. And it doesn't matter that you did not actually inherit the stamps!
