I don't like labels. It makes people think they know all your opinions. I would say I'm a liberal conservative. I believe the government should be less involved with our personal lives and they should be giving us freedom. This is technically a conservative stance. I also believe that we should be more accepting and progressive thinking. This is my liberal side. So I support gay marriage, pro-choice, stop illegal wiretapping, etc. Fiscally, I also support a welfare system, universal healthcare, and less government spending. These are again, a combination of liberal and conservative ideas.

My biggest problem is that neither democrats or republicans are really doing any of this.

As a registered Republican, I can safely say that I'm VERY liberal.

So, while on the subject - I'd like to know why there isn't a third party that:
1. supports LESS government intrusion into our private lives (as in issues such as abortion, gay marriages and right-to-life cases like Terri Schiavo);
2. that actually wants to help poor people get a better education and better health care;
3. yet, tries to maintain a balanced budget and supports keeping jobs in America and promoting American business and manufacturing concerns (including support in the area of exports);
4. works toward nation-building, not running off and starting wars all by ourself;
5. is honest with and accountable to the American people.

Anyone?

I am a conservative in ideology for the most part. Which means I believe in smaller government the less they are in my life the better. Also I like lower taxes and a strong military.

Neither, I'm a human being who makes decisions based on the issues, not the party.

Socially liberal and fiscally Conservative.

that means I support necessary government funding of social programs but run by a smaller more efficient bureaucracy

I'm pretty liberal when it comes to peoples' rights,
conservative when it comes to my values about relationships
liberal enough to accept other peoples values
liberal about petty crime
conservative about white collar and felony crimes (hang 'em high!)

I'm socialist when it comes to everyone having a right to have the basic necessities necessary to sustain life: food, water and shelter - after that I'm a major capitalist.

Not really much choice in the USA. Is it a democracy or a two party rule?
