I mean, as a CSI she should no better, right ... I mean, it just gives a bad impression I think that she is too embarassed or does not want to go through the correct judicial process. What do *you* think??

If you know anything about Catherine, you would know she is a strong person and she doesn't like to admit defeat. She was embarrassed and humiliated by the event because it showed her point blank that she is not superhuman. Just like when she called the lab from the motel room and hung up, she didn't want anyone to see her in that position.
If you were in her shoes during those events, can you honestly say you would do what you think she should have instead of what she did? Most likely not. Under stress like that, you're not always thinking clearly. I personally didn't think any less of her for doing that. She did what she felt she had to, and whether that is right or wrong is not your decision to make.
But her self-kit did help track down who her daughter's second kidnapper was that they may not have figured out otherwise.

As Stormy said she didn't want to press charges. Also, she wanted to check for possible STD infections and the appearance of semon. She was checking for her own personal health that she:
1) didn't contract aids
2) didn't get pregnat
3) she wanted to find out who the perpitrator was so that she could be prepared in the future. Also because Sam Braun is her father, she would have suspected that it could be connected to him, and it was directly connected to Sam.
Side BLURP:
If you were in the Las Vegas CSI team...would you want your co-workers running a rape kit on you? I mean, it would be like your brother or sister poping a zit on your pubis...wrong, and embarassing!

In order to understand that you would have have been a victim or have known one. many women feel they are to blame and there is shame involved which is of coursed misplaced. Its quite complicated but that I am sure was reason. Now correct me if wrong but they found no spermicide in her swab so its possible no raped occurred! this was about Sam no Cathrine even her daughter was unharmed. I would be interested to see if Sam dies there was no confirmed death only shots and it didnt look good.

One of the problems with being rape is the process you have to go through, your body and mind have been violated and then again when they take a rape kit of it. Not only that but if you press charges the person who raped you has more rights then you do.....................So you are not just rape once but much, much more then that.............
