How well do you think they can do this year. If everyone stays healthy (A Big If), then I think they are championship contenders. What impcat will the new guys like Battier, Novak, and recently signed Bonzi Wells have on the team?

I think if the Rockets remain healthy that they are championship contenders. People seem to forget the fact that the Rockets to a Mavericks team to game 7, last year (while injuried) that eventually went to the Finals this year with the same roster. Bonzi Wells only can improve this team especially when you consider the evident need for a distinguishable 3rd scorer capable of stepping up his offense when one of the teams stars gets injuried. I do not predict them looking to move Wells in the future nor do I predict them looking to move anyone else with him. People tend to forget the fact that Shane Battier has experience at the 4 both on a collegiate and NBA level. Why would it be so hard to predict a man 6-8 and 230 pounds in today's league playing that position next to a man 7-6 with a penchant for rejecting shots? Jeff Van Gundy did it with the Knicks when he started a 6-7 Larry Johnson next to a 7-1 Patrick Ewing so I'm not hesitant to believe he would not consider playing both Battier and Wells together in the same front court. Wells scores like a 4 in today's game anyway, so I do not foresee any chemistry issues in the future with those guys. The key to this season is staying healthy because the West is stacked this year and it is realistic that the difference between 1st and 8th may come down to a handful of games.

If the Rockets stay healthy, they will be a major contender in the west. Unfortunately, they are in the best division in the league, and could finish behind both San Antonio, and Dallas. I'd like there chances much more if they played in the east. Battier was a tremendous acquisition (Memphis will definitely miss him), and he will be a very valuable role player. Bonzi Wells has always been a mixed bag where ever he's played. Howard is always solid, if not spectacular. The key will once again be if Ming and McGrady can stay healthy. The Rockets are also suspect at point guard, and it will take a little time to develop a good chemistry with all the new faces. But if they can stay healthy, and play unselfishly as a team, by the end of the season, they will be a team that nobody will want to face in the playoffs.

Battier will help. Bonzi Wells has been on the bench most of the last 3 years. And Novak will not add enough to talk about.

The question with the Rockets? Tracy McGrady's health. Without him, they are nothing. Yao cannot carry a team.

The Rockets will miss the playoffs again and the team will get broken up in a year or so.

Chance at a playoff birth: .05%
Chance at a NBA championship: 0%.

The Rockets are a very interesting team. IF Yao and McGrady stay healthy then that helps the mos. With the additions of Battier and Bonzi youo get scoring and defense. Bonzi is also someone who can create for himself, which the Rockets didn't have w/o McGrady. Luther Head is a good player who can only help and the draft pick of Novak brings peremiter shooting. plus he's 6'10 and can shoot the ball very well and isn't afraid to shoot it.SO I think they can make some noise in the West if there health says good. Will they win it all.....I'm sort of rooting for them but it's poosible, no one thought Miami was going to win except me.

If healthy, a Western Conference final loss to the Mavericks should be the outcome. I think Bonzi Wells will either be used as trade bait in the future, or T-Mac may be traded because of his back. I don't see any real chemistry with this current team. Something is in the works.

The rockets could win the division this year with t-mac back and healthy he could avrege over 30 points and with yao back he could avrege about 25 point and 14 boards and with bonzi (the perfect fit for this team) the could get over 60 wins. And dont forget that battie can score and defend good to.
