i have been tattooing for approx. 10 years professionally. I have recently moved to tennessee but to tattoo they said they require a one year apprenticeship under a tennessee licensed tattooist. Where I moved from did not require a "License or Apprenticeship". Only a permit recieved after passing a health department test.
How can I obtain a License in the state of tennessee for tattooing without having to go threw this one year apprenticeship?

Did you research any of this before you moved to TN?

Maybe you could talk to someone in a tattoo shop locally and ask them if there are any ways around it.

I'm afraid you're going to have to follow the law unless you do it under the table like a lot of hair stylists and nail techs. If you want to do this legally then follow the letter of the law.

See if you can make an appeal. If not, then just bite your teeth and go through the apprenticeship.
