I have read several recommendations for using Firefox browser. Is it better than internet explorer? What about anti-virus... I've recently installed Firefox, but my anti-virus program does not apply to this browser, only to the i.e. Any input?

I have used fire fox for sometime now. It is pretty good. Sometime it hogs memory if i leave it open overnight.

Anti virus is for the whole machine. Not sure when you say anti-virus is only for IE. Which Anti-Virus do you use?

I have been using Firefox since some of it's earliest versions and the only time I use IE now is to access the Microsoft site since it won't recognize Firefox. There are so many plug-ins (extensions) available free for download and you can customize it with a great variety of skins and themes, also free.
The variety of plug-ins is amazing. For instance, on the bottom bar of my Firefox window I have icons for FoxyTunes (CD player controls), Adblock, G-mail opener, Link Wrapper (for long URLs), and the weather for today and the next three days (including local radar map).
It is a good, safe and easy to use browser and much, MUCH better than IE.

I downloaded Acoo browser and it works great with IE if you click on the link I have put below it will download directly from the company with no adware or hidden crap, and you can change the skin or look of it to make it look like you want. You won't have any more problems. Remember if you don't want a new browser DO NOT CLICK THE LINK BELOW.

I'm using it right now. I downloaded the yahoo companion toolbar for it, too.

I use Yahoo's Computer Assoiciate's AV, and have never gotten bit by a virus yet.

IE became unuseable after the last couple of security updates.
