i just don't think there ever is a good time to wear felt cowboy hats.

It depends upon the wather. I live in San Francisco, so I wear them all year, for the temperature is never extreme. I lived in Houston a while. It may be hot & humid ten months a year, so felt hats are too heavy until the 20 degree weather of January and February. Occasionally, I could wear them by September, but I wore straw hats more often. In Wyoming, I begin in September always. I still have a Resistol beaver fur felt western hat, and I've owned Stetsons as well.

I love any kind of cowboy hats, I would say Middle of September, It really all depends on the weather.
