I have a friend that recently separated from her husband. Her husband found out that she had an affair and decided to leave her. During the affair, she became pregnant and did not know who the child's father was. She went into denial about she was sure the child belonged to her husband (until the child was born). At one point, the husband requested a blood test. He has not requested a test in a while. She asked me did the child look like the other man. I told her that I refused to give her an answer and she should have the child and the other man tested if she is unsure of the father. She became upset because she didn't like my answer. I am not a DNA test therefore I refuse to give her the answer.

My question is, what type of answer would you have given a friend or someone close to you about 2 different men that could possibly be their child's father? I must add though that the child does resemble the man she had the affair with.

The answer you gave was fair and honest. And I have a flash here for you. No matter WHAT answer you gave her it would have made her mad because I suspect she wanted to fight. When people ask you "leading" questions such as the one you were asked, or "What do you think of my boyfriend, REALLY?" and other similar questions, they are looking to entrap you (so they can fight with you), and thus no matter what you tell them, they are going to get mad at you. Leading questions are designed to be NO WIN situations for the person responding.

i would have told her what u said and then i would have explained that you are not a DNA tester and that you woldn't hurt her husband's or other guys feelings. did u know the men? I guess so because ahe asked u. well anyway, tell her that u can't tell. That too many things are the same in the child as in the both men.

I think by refusing to answer the question you gave her the answer that she didn't want to hear. She knew you thought the baby looked like the other guy. I think its best just to ask her not to involve you in those kind of problems. Tell her that you care for her and you want to be her friend but you don't want to get involved with issues between her and her husband.

Tell her the truth about how you feel, but suggest she get the test done to stop all the confusion and heartache I'm sure it's causing, your her friend, she needs you to be honest AND supportive even if you don't agree.
