This is real easy, get yourself some pliers and then grab the metal part of the old cig lighter and pull upwards gently. On my 1994 Grand Am it was in the center console facing upwards under the stereo/underneath.Just be sure to take it easy,do not pull far as you do not want to stress the 2 wires too much.Obviously when out far enough for you to see take note of which wire goes where before removing them and pushing them onto your new lighter.I hope this helps.I would definitely remove the negative/black battery cable first so you do not blow any other fuses during this install.

It's got an outer collar that threads onto the receptical from the back side of the dash.
Stick your thumb insde the receptical, and unscrew the collar from the backside.

if it's not working, you might want to check the fuse before you go through all the trouble to replace it...
but there should be a ring that clamps the body of the lighter to the dash, try unscrewing it (righty tighty lefty loosie)

IF YOU LOOK AT THE NEW ONE IT UNSCREWS APART. PULL YOUR LIGHTER OUT AND UNSCREW THE LOWER PART. IF YOU STILL HAVE A PROBLEM GO TO A AUTOZONE OND ASK THEM TO SHOW YOU HOW THEY COME APART.
