AL Cy Young: Johan Santana, american league leader in wins (19), era (2.77), and strikeouts (245), games started (34), and innings pitched (233.2). Not another pitcher in the top five in each of those catagories.
NL Cy Young: Chris Carpenter, 3rd in era (3.09), 5th in strikeouts (184), 1st in complete games (5), and 1st in shutouts (3). Much tougher choice, but Carpenter is the only guy helping out a struggling Cardinals team.

Santana
Carpenter has more K's than Webb, better WHIP than Webb, less walks than Webb and only a week ago had a better ERA than Webb (of course, two 6 ER games in a row f'd that up). He has a lower BAA by 7 points
Carpenter is playing for a winning team, which is very important.
At this point, I think Oswalt and Zambrano are out of it. Oswalt's stats just don't compare to those other two, except for having a decent ERA. Zambrano's ERA and WHIP are way too high, and he has 111 walks.
Also, Carpenter and Webb are tied with 5 cg's and 3 so's.

AL Cy Young is Johann Santana, hands down. 19 wins, sub 3 ERA, leads the AL in strike outs...the unoffical pitching triple crown. NL is not so easy. Brandon Webb, Carlos Zambrano, Roy Oswalt, Chris Carpenter are all worthy. In the end, I got with Webb since he did it all on a lesser team.

Santana in the AL and either Carpenter or Webb in the NL...I think Webb should get it though. He has pitched that well on a team thats not making the playoffs, while Carpenter is pitching for a team that SHOULD win the divison but well yeah

20 games is just a benchmark of a bygone era. pitchers are throwing complete games less and less, and the relief pitchers are really picking up the slack... today's game is about longevity... cy young either goes to oswalt... depending on how well he does and how well the astros do, or more likely webb... AL obviously goes to the triple crown santana.

Santana in the AL, Webb in the NL. If my Cubs had a better season I would say Zambrano, but we'll save that for next season.

AL - Santana (no questions)
NL - Carpenter (his wins more meaningful to the teams success than Webb)
