The average American hasn't but our leadership is is engaged in illegal and unconstitutional behavior and trying to pass laws through congress to cover their asses. Our president sought tribunals against dictators who acted accordingly. Perhaps it is time that he be impeached and tried for his crimes against humanity.

This is actually a good question... though anyone who disagrees with you will only try to call you incompetent or unpatriotic. Why? It represents their level of intelligence. Anyone can use spell check, do you honestly think that discredits his question?
I grew up in a free country. We were loved by most a good portion of the world... now I live in a an APATHETIC country full of people who let the TV tell them what to think and refuse to vote for their rights because they have been convinced their vote doesn't count. Now the world hates us?
It does count, vote for freedom! Don't let the Religious freaks censor our lives. Patriots fight for their rights, their country. Don't let the douche bags get you down, keep on seeking the Truth and spreading the word and maybe we can reign in the USA's plummet into Fascism.

Yes.
It all started with illegal immigration. Since students who were illegally here didn't need to learn American history or civics (as they don't participate in those functions) the schools ditched those classes in favor of concurrent lessons in 11 foreign languages, 'concept' math, and school as standardized test prep instead of as a training ground for educated citizenship in a free society, as Ben Franklin had intended.
Graduates of our public schools from the past 40 years know nothing about due process, civil liberties, human rights, the Bill of Rights, English Common Law, the concept of Greek democracy, Roman republicanism, John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, what 'pursuit of happiness' means, or that the flag that conservatives love to wrap themselves in is an ultimate symbol of liberal thought (conceived as an ever-changing, diverse object).

Apparently Republicans only needed to know 3 things
1. that their President required more "tools" to fight terrorism
2. that Muslims were all crazed, sub-human fanatics whose only object in life is kill Americans who will not convert
3. that Democrats who oppose these methods were cowardly, tree hugging appeasers who hate America.
If you've read some of the posts here for more than a day or two, you'll know that I'm not exaggerating!

Here's an excellent article on the implications of the law that was just passed, and why it's so dangerous to us all.
I'm dismayed at how readily so many of us will toss aside our freedoms just because the administration plays on our fears. The biggest hazard to *any* nation comes from its own government, not from some nutty radical foreigners.

What wire taps??? If you are referring to the NSA intelligence gathering, that was done within the confines of the law. I'm not sure where these "secret prisons" are and who is in them, but if they are secret, how do you know about them. Further... nobody is being tortured.
