That is a good question, I have seen the effects of blacks educating themselves and succeding ligitimatey in the world be ostricized by their own color for "acting white" or "selling out". I never understood why wanting a decent life for yourself and your family and a thirst for knowledge were considered "white traits" or why someone feels they have to hold themselves down because of their colour. Makes no sense to me. That is just the kind of thinking poisoning black culture, the only for black to change it is from within. There is nothing wrong with wanting a decent life for yourself and if that means being called "acting white" then so be it. I consider people that to better themselves a testament to what anyone can do with a little work.

That first person must live under a rock somewhere in the Boondocks.... I have always been accused by my so-called "brothers and sisters" of what you're talking about. It's because some people are raised with the belief that to be considered one of "the people", you must put on a show and be an ********. I could write an entire book about my experiences growing up around those people that say this, but it wouldn't change anything. I see that crap everyday and it's so sick that they haven't woken up and realized that living up to the stereotypes put upon us only makes us appear even more weak. Not that I give two **** about what others think, but it's about time we stand up and have a bit more sense. Regardless of what color we are!

I must admit that many Blacks have a very rough road to hoe! You are right! But I hope you do not hear this from whites! In an age when it is NOT cool to be educated, to learn in school, to not join gangs, I think that all kids have it rough. And black kids have it rougher...they are shot IF they take school seriously. They are killed if they want to make something of their lives. And then, there are Blacks who do not come from the ghettos, who have money, real estate, the works of the successful, and they are accussed of being "uppity." Lord, what a world! Please ignore the stupid, the idiotic, and be what you are, folks. What separates most from poverty and success is education and good English. Good luck, and thanks for a very heavy question. I am sure others will give a more deep answer than I.

I speak proper English. I very rarely use slang, and if i do, it's something along the lines of "whats up" or "whats good". the thing is, I've never been accused of "acting white". I've noticed that the black people that are often accused of acting white look down on other black people, they act as though they can't befriend us or as if they are better then us. because of that, that's why some are said to "act white".

Because certain"sistas & brothas" want their race to be unique, and for that to happen you have to act a certain way. Like if a black girl listens to rock, and says "like" & "totally" a lot, certain people of the black race would call her a "white girl" because she supposedly has to say "fahsho" & "who you be" & "ain't" alot. I'm speaking from my experiance by the way....I don't act like that.

Because some people are ignorant.... some people have a very narrow view of what constitutes "black" behavior, vernacular, and clothing choices...

My former roommate, who is black, used to get fed up with this too... she has a very crisp and well-spoken manner, and even her own family members accused her of "acting white." She would say, "This is who I am, this is how I talk, and I am black. Deal with it." I think that's a good response.

Don't listen to these idiots putting you down. Sometimes black men are called "Uncle Toms" if they actually - perish the thought - try hard in school, work hard for their bosses, etc. Most people out there do not want you to be better than them. They want to keep you down because it makes them feel better about themselves. Be the best that you can be and to Hell with them.

Ask the Democrats. They could lose a necessary voting block if Blacks aren't kept down by the hip hop rap mentality, that BET, MTV and other leaders foster or play down. Our prisons are full of guys who thought learning was dumb. (Black, white and Hispanic) There are probably a few Asians in there as well. They sort of out shine us all statistically, when it comes to learning.

i don't think of Obamas "police acted stupidly" changed into racist .. ignorant sure, because he made a judgment without each and each of the info. in spite of the indisputable fact that it changed into what he suggested afterwords that changed into racist, so in context to the reaction to the question on the clicking convention, sure i trust Obama changed into making judgments depending only on the very reality of all criminals epidermis shade no longer on any authentic premises of the criminal acts that warrant the arrest of human beings. Now Justin Barrett changed into very racist in his comments to the newspaper with regards to Henry Louis Gates. it truly is incorrect and he ought to no longer be allowed to implement the guidelines of any jurisdiction. inspite of the reality that claiming his own intelligence and credentials in his digital mail, he sounds only as ignorant because the others who made racial statements and statements in accordance to lack of understand-how.
