talking about movies such as Passion of the christ, the exorcist etc. They know what the movie is about, if its going to offend them, they shouldn't watch them and let everyone enjoy them, nothing should be edited or cut out because they say so.

I agree. If you don't like it - avoid it. We all have things we don't like and avoid because of offence or disagreement. This doesn't mean that film-makers can do whatever the hell they like though there are limits to human decency and lines that should not be crossed. If it's religion though - go for it.

I am a Christian and am against any kind of Censorship simply because it would be equal Censorship which would include what is important to me.
If Evil is portrayed in the media, it is my mission as a Christian to counteract that through my public life, having an effect on individuals lives rather than attempting to singlehandedly stop a fallen world from falling.
Earths Destruction from Sin was Prophecied long ago in the book of Revelations, we cannot change that. God will create a new Heaven and a new Earth.
We as Gods Children must concentrate on making sure as many souls will survive rather than being distracted from our mission by Satans message.

Because religious groups believe that the world should be re-made in their own image.

These are the people who commit the blasphemy of limiting God to their own understanding and expectations.

Isn't this what the film "The life of Brian" was all about?

Absolutely. The offence is greatest where the faith is weakest. Have you noticed that very little offence is ever taken when the subject of a film is actually God? It's any portrayal of a prophet that causes problems..i.e Jesus, Mohamed etc.

They're all mad and weak.

Because they fight against anything that threatens their own beliefs. Anything that might make people in their movement think for themselves instead of swallow whatever doo-doo their priest or pastor is peddling. They are brainwashed into thinking they have some "truth" that everyone should agree to, and anything that threatens that mistaken feeling is fought against. They don't care about anyone else's beliefs, feelings, logic, reason, or anything else. Same reason they fight against teaching the facts of science in schools -- wouldn't want their kids to learn that they've been told lies their whole lives!

In truth , I believe it is because they fear for their children, Regardless of what faith, religion,or cult they belong to,they do far the most part believe it to be correct, and do not want their children lead astray(as they see it). They want them exposed to what they consider truth. And they don't want them making up their own minds because of the risk (as they see it) of becoming convinced of lies and false teachings

Because they are uncertain in their beliefs, and fear that others of their religion will see these films and begin to think for themselves and reject the mindless dogma their preachers spout! Nothing should ever be edited for content for any reason!
