I think ferrets are the best pets ever! I am a new ferret owner and I have had Freddie for 5 weeks, before I got him I read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on about ferts. A lot of people say that they are really hard work to look after - they need at least 4 hours out of the cage to play and let me tell you - they can play real hard! They want constant attention out of the cage and lots of interesting things to play with and explore but mostly they want their favourite toy - YOU! This said I don't think 4 hours is a lot out of 24 and the fun you get from the little villains is worth it. Freddie comes out of the cage for way longer than 4 hours cos we love him that much plus after a couple of hours he loves a warm cozy cuddle from me to recharge his batteries.
They need a good sized cage with lots of bedding, litter trays and food bottles etc. but it only needs a "deep clean" once a week, the rest of the time it is fine as long as you scoop the litter once a day (more if you have more than one ferret) I think any pet needs commitment as I'm sure you know.
People also say that they are mean and bite a lot and that they smell real bad. They are not mean, they do bite but it's only a playful nip like a puppy would do, when it first happens it's a bit of a shock cos their little teeth are so sharp but after a while you get used to it and it really DOESN'T hurt, HONEST. If Freddie gets real giddy while I'm playing with him he will sometimes bite a bit hard so I say "NO" really loud and he closes his eyes then looks at me with an "I'm sorry" face,it's sooo cute.
As for the smell when I first got Freddie I brought him home and after about an hour I was beginning to regret it cos the smell was EVIL. I put up with it for a couple of days but then just had to phone the vet for advice and he said to wait a week or so to see if it settled. Sure enough the stench died down - I think he was just a little excited and nervous to be in his new home and kept spraying his stink (like a skunk) but now he only has a little musky smell which is no worse than a dog - I actually like it!!
All in all I would say a ferret is a great pet and mine is a constant source of amazement to anyone who finds out I've got one (I live in Manchester, England and they are not really popular here).
Good luck if you do get one I'm sure you will be glad if you do x

They are wonderful pets for the knowledgeable pet owner. Know that they WILL require medical care in their later years and budget about $5,000 per ferret for their medical care throughout their lives. Ferrets with bad habits can be broken like all pets. It's usually the owners that aren't training and handing an animal with poor behavior correctly.
Oh, ferrets require at least an hour each day of direct play time with humans. If you cant do this, a ferret is not right for you.

I really have always wanted 1 but my mom always said no!!!
They are fun 2 watch when there are 2 in the cage because they fight so it's like wrestling but the bad news about them is they are nocturnal so they sleep for most of the day and stay awake all night long!!! Also if U don't change there cages very frequently they will smell like U know what, so be sure 2 change the cage every day k?
You can find more information about them at ur local pet store or at a veterinarian located near by!!!
Best of luck 2 U!!!
P.S. U can IM me cause I have experience with alot of rodents such as guinea pigs, bunnys, etc.!

I would say so but I do not own one but I spend tons of time at my friend's house and she has a ferret. I find them very cute and friendly (sometimes). If you are afraid of getting scratched when you hold them for awhile then they might not be the best i think. When they scratch it hurts after awhile and I'm sure they bite. You have to cleanup after them alot and it will start smelling. That is very important for the ferret's health. Plus you'll have to play with them often to keep them healthy and all. The hardest part: ferret proof your home. Goodluck.

Yeah I think they are probably cute animals though I haven't seen any of them before . A domesticated albino or brown polecat used for catching rabbits .This explanation taken from oxford concise 11 edition full .I think they are cute cats according to this explanation .After writing statements above I decided to search for them and I will look their pictures at google pictures.Yeah I think they are cute .I have just looked their pictures now .They are sweet cats .I hope this may help take care .This subject is really subjective so it doesn't matter what we say they are cute or they are not .This your choice but my mentality is we should like every creature in the world cause they are a sign of Creator and its precious art.

Ferret owners always seem to think so...they get very attached to them. Me, I prefer cats. I love dogs, but cats fit my lifestyle better.
