what type of oil does my 1978 450SEL 4.5L take?

I would think 5w30 but I'm not sure

i have had several mercedes and have always had good experiences with castrol 20/50..

ive got an 87 560SEL for sale.. only got 10k on new motor..

20/50 Valvoline.

10W30 taht what most veicles use but 5W30 wont hurt it neither it is just thicker than 10W30 thats all you pic which one or ask a local mechanic shop for advice.
