so if someone were to join the school band and not know what instuments to play but saying that they might play the clarinet but end up playing the flute
would you consider that lying(saying i might play the flute but end up playing the clarinet)
or changing your mind?

Since s/he said "might play," that says to me that s/he wasn't sure which one yet, so probably just a change of mind.

If you might play the flute but end up playing the clarinet is just a change of mind . But really why does it really matter?

Definitely not lying!!!!! As a band nerd i know that choosing an instrument is hard but fun all the same. If you can make a sound an both the clarinet and the flute than you are one talented person so go ahead and choose, plus if you don't like what you choose you can always switch!

Thanks for your question because i have been wanting to answer something like this. =)

i dont see how that is considered lying, she said "might" not "i will be playing...."
and whos business is it other than the person looking in to joining the band other that that persons parents who will be getting the instrument?

what ever they choose im sure they will be good at it!

It really should be obvious that it's changing your mind. If it's not obvious, either the person who calls it 'lying' is an idiot, or you're not telling us everything.
