I've had this for 3 years - brilliant, love it, will get another when it wears out.
It can take a while to settle down as the hormones on the collar of the coil work on the uterine lining, to thin it down. Bleeding should be less than a normal period and dwindle away to little or nothing. I sometimes get a bit of spotting, but the convenience factor outweighs that.
Check it out with your local family planning clinic in case you have a slight infection. Good luck

I have had the Myrena coil for about 5 yrs. Ready for a change actually. My periods never stopped completely. I would still get spotting or browny sludgey stuff. For some people it goes away altogether, for others it's a much reduced version of what they had before. At worst it has to be better than what was going on before!! I still get bad months and good months. If worried, go back to your GYNIE or GP.

Coils are foreign bodies and can cause very serious problems - Toxic Shock Syndrome and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. You would be better of with some kind of barrier method, e.g. diaphragm, condoms etc.
There are natural hormone regulators which would sort out your periods. Cannot name them here for legal reasons, but they are totally natural and of the highest quality. They give the hormone system the support it needs to behave itself. I have used it for the past three years and it has done me the world of good.
See testimonies at the website below.
Take care.

I had the Mirena (yes correct spelling) fitted in August last year, due to the fact I was suffering from extremely heavy painful periods and my gynaecologist recommended I have one fitted, he told me it would resolve all my menstrual problems, wanting any kind of solution, I agreed to it.
I went on holiday in the september and was unable to enjoy myself due to the fact I was in do much pain, and I was still bleeding. The bleeding and severe pains never stopped, at the end of October I ended up having it removed because my body was rejecting it.
Obviously your situation is different but any kind of gynae problem you are experiencing should be brought to your GP's attention.
Good luck, listen to your body.

It is a very common side effect of the coil, irregular and heavy periods. Also I worked with a midwife once who told me that if she had £1.00 for every placenta she delivered with a coil embedded in it, she would be rich!!!So be careful .

I really hate doing this, as I'm not great at it myself, though I do try, but please learn how to spell before you try for kids.
Let's face it, it's the least you can do.
That said, good luck in your life.
