So Im looking on ebay and I find guitars and xbox 360s that are supposedly confiscated by the police/government and are in perfect condition yet the price on them is only like $20. This seems ridiculous, but Im pretty sure that you have to sell things in the exact condition it says they are in otherwise you get into alot of trouble with ebay.

I guess my question is are these auctions too good to be true? Can you really get a working xbox 360 for $20 or is it a big gamble?

well the one i was talking about seems to have ended now, but here is a supposed "fully loaded" xbox 360 which you can "but it now" for 170 which is still way cheaper than normal.

my little brother would love me if i bought this for his birthday but i dont have the money to spend 500 on one.
Do you think this is for real?

check the feedback of the seller. if they have only a few, i'd say less than 50, check their feedback to make sure they are from different people. also, check what items were sold. i have done over 50 transactions on ebay, selling but mostly buying, and i have been ripped off twice. be careful!!!! check the seller!!!! make sure it doesn't say "sold as is" because that usually means it isn't working

yeah, it's a gamble and yes selling bogus stuff on E-Bay will get you in trouble with them

I knew a guy that was selling fake designer purses (like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc) for cheap and claiming them to be authentic. Once someone complained and he got found out E-Bay cancelled his account. I'm not sure if he got in any trouble with the police though.

sh^t, it's only $20, give it a shot, maybe you'll get lucky!

I work for the Federal gov't and we have sold old lab equipment on E-Bay so it could be true . . .

usually when these sort of auctions appear, it's usually that they are selling INFORMATION on where you can get cheap stuff like 360's and so on, not the actual item itself. if it is for the actual item itself, then most likely it's a scam. even though it's $20, why waste it on some douchebag that will wind up screwing you over? but then again, it's ONLY $20 so if you've got some cash lying around burning a hole in your wallet then go for it and see what happens.

Are you actually getting the item or are you getting info to be able to potentially get an item like that? My experience is that there are sellers who sell the info only for that price so read the posting very carefully and if it seems to good to be true...then it probably is.

well yeah everything its true and they wouldnt sell stuff in a different condition then it says there cuz one u can leave bad feedback which would make people not buy from them so yeah and maybe the bidding is the one that start at 20 dollars hope this helps, hope this helps

If $20 is the opening bid, then I could believe it. There may be a reserve (minimum) selling price. Check their feedback. If their feedback is a low number, or they have a lot of negative feedback, then be suspicious.

check out the feedback of the seller to see how he has delivered in past auctions. be very careful in reading the description of the item being offered. if seller is legit and you are comfortable with the item description go for it. i have bought many items on ebay. been doing it for years.

Dude - it's $20.

Yeah, if it's a scam, then you're out $20, but it's not like you're out $200.

Anything that looks too good to be true probably is too good to be true. Buyer Beware!
