I have been taking ortho-tricyclen for about maybe 3-4 years now. I've been hearing that you can still get pregnant by taking pills. Is that true? How can that be?

Of course. The chance is small, but it's there. Thant's why many people will use a secondary method.

YES!!! Although, most who get pregnant are usually in their first year of using the birth control. Not everything is 100% even your doctor will tell you that. It's always important to use a condom WHENEVER you have sex because it not only reduces your risk of getting pregnant but also of contracting a STD. Statistically, you are FOUR times more likely to contract a STD than you are to ever get pregnant. The following source has some facts on birth control pills and their effectiveness.

Birth control pills are about 99.9% effective but because they are not 100% fool-proof, then yes you can get pregnant even when taking birth control pills. However, the chances of that happening for most women are remote. You have every reason to feel confident in your method of contraception.

Well the only sure thing way of not getting pregnant is by being abstinant. If you are taking birth control what is it like 99% accurate, if you take it everyday and like the same time. There is always a chance of getting pregnant.

Yes it is true. Birth control is made to meet specific criteria and one pill does not work for everyone, there fore some birth control simply does not work for some women. My sister was on the pill and she had a baby girl.
