I am a huge fan. I believe he was a god and the government killed him because they don't want the gods to help us. He is one of the most brilliant, and beautiful people ever. So brilliant and beautiful I don;t thin he was human. He is a god. I also think other musicians are gods and the government killed them as well.

I'm a Morrison fan. He had an intriguing voice, was a good showman and a very gifted poet. However, in terms of writing, what Morrison probably really needed was a competent editor. Not everything that dribbled out of his pen was brilliant--but enough of it is good that, had he lived longer, he could've been a literary force in his own right.

You need to ask my husband...he is a Big Jim Morrison fan....my kids know all the lyrics to the most popular songs...We have the videos and all....It is sad he hated his parents like he did...and was disrespectful to his mom....and his morals stunk...but he had some really DEEP songs....the music was good for getting high...I assume because he was high most of the time...in reality,. he was like Janis Joplin and all the others, depressed and couldn't cope...but yes , he probably could have been a great asset to the world if he had his head on straight.

I have been in love with Jim Morrison for 20 years but the grown up part of me thinks he is a bit overrated. That being said....what makes him great is that he did not have any inhibitions..he was who he was, he did what he did and he lived live with a tortured soul. He was/is awesome.

I think he was a brilliant performer, and a good poet but I don't think he would have lived a long life or done much for the world because I think he was very self-indulgent and egotistical. I loved his music but I think he was an accident waiting to happen.

Yes, but I'm kind of in the closet about it now, since he went a bit overboard with the drugs supposedly awakening his consciousness but really just messing with his mind and making him unaware of much beyond vague concepts like sex and food.
Honestly though I think that most of our geniuses, poets, and greatest thinkers succumb to temptations like this. It's no coincidence that a lot of the most brilliant voices of that generation were silenced by its petty vices.

The Lizard King was one helluva show, but then, most psychotics are. I only saw him do 2 shows & both times, he was so screwed-up, he almost fell off the stage.

he could have had a great life. he left an incredible mark and continues to find his way to new fans. there are some musicians that are alive and don't have that ability.
