I'm one of her assistants, and she has another assistant in that class with me. But, she always has to send me to do errands for her and grade most of the stuff that she needs graded. Lately, she'll make me mad at how she acts towards me, then there'll be days when she'll be really nice and thank me. Why does she do this?

Also, when she's around her teacher friends, she acts like she barely notices me.

you are probably taking all this personally... don't. as her assistant, you should be glad she has confidence and trust in you to do errands. a word of advise... work so you feel good about yourself... if you are expecting her to validate you, the wait will be long and lonely.

As a teacher I value my assistants especially my high schoolers. There is so much that teachers have to do nowadays that your errand running and grading my seem meaningless, but it is a huge help. As far as her ignoring you when around other teachers, she may not realize that she is doing it. I know in my school that teachers really have time to chat so she might just zone out.

If you have been doing all this work for her and never said no, then she trusts you and finds you faithful to do it. It is a compliment, dint turn it around to something negative, remembered she is helping you get ready for life, because you will have days like this and you might need someone to help you also.
As for not paying attention to you when she is around other teachers, other teachers have to have time to discuss teaching skills and other problems to make your life in school alto more productive. She would have you do these t hings if she didn't like you...

It sounds too me as if she has a lot of confidence in you and she can depend on you.. ask her about her reactions that are bothering you. maybe she just does not realize she is doing or acting this away toward you. hang in their and keep up the great work.

Well, you can look at this in a good way, maybe she trust you to do those things where she may not trust the other aide. Take this as a learning opportunity.

have you ever ask her to talk about this problem with you? she sounds like she is having some issues. they are hers so don't ask her about them. can you talk to the other assistant sometime out of your classroom? i would ask her to give you some help. be nice about it and maybe she'll help you.betty boop

You should be grateful to her for giving you a different type of education which not everybody could learn in school.
