Power and OIL. That's it.
Anyone who thinks we are at war to fight "terrorism" is a fool.

Study a Political Science book and you will learn...

America is the most powerful country in the world. In order to keep our status we must go to war, invade other countries, put those whom we want into power, and BAM! We stay a high power.

All the bullcrap you hear on TV is there to get you hyped... It's there so you continue to support their ideas, even though their ideas are differant than what the television says.

I'd say by 2050 America will lose most of the status it has today. That will most likely be because of rebellion by our own people, not an invasion by another nation.

We have all the perfections of a sepreme empire. Look at our boarders for Christ sake... Two oceans and two countries that can't do crap. We have a pretty fair climate, a strong work force, a majority religion and god, e.t.c.

SCREW WHAT ANYONE ELSE HAS TO SAY! I am a soon to be Journalist/Political scientist I know what the hell i am talking about. If you think i am talking smack, then study... Rome, Alaxander the Great , Great Brittain, Nazi Germany (at least what they could have been), ANY GREAT POWER! ... It's all there and obvious.

Islamic extremists are at war with us. They have attacked us and our intrests 8 times over the last 15 years. They are training terrorists with the goal of taking over the world for Islam. They say that they will use Weapons of mass Destruction to take out 7 of our cities. We are doing everything we can to make sure that they don't get nuclear weapons. Iraq had a nuclear weapons plan, and everyone thought they would give the technology to the terrorists. Before we went into Iraq almost everyone thought they were building nukes. The fact of the matter is that Saddam got rid of most of his weaponry and some of it went to Syria just before the war. If we had left Saddam in power he would have started up his weapons program again. So most people realised that he had to be deposed.
Now Iran is trying to make Nuclear weapons and they said that they will wipe Israel off the map.
Watch to see what will happen to Iran. They are dirrect funders of Hizbollah which is a terrorist group that have killed more americans than any group but Al Qaeda.

We are at war because:

a) we were attacked by state-sponsored or enabled terrorists for years, culminating in the 9/11/01 attacks, our war is against the funders, sponsors and executers of terrorism, mostly are radical Islamic elements

b) we have tired of the totalitarian and theocratic regimes in the world who commandeer natural resources while impoverishing their own people for the benefit of their despotic and oppressive regimes (this applied/applies to Saddam, Khameini, the Saudis, Assad as well as the Bolivian, Venezuelan, Somalian, Sudanese and Nigerian leadership)

c) we are a society and economy heavily reliant, currently, on oil and fossil fuels. The future of our society is dependent on access and affordability of such resources until a suitable alternative is found. One thing never discussed is the future of the Middle East and all of Islam once recoverable oil diminishes and production stops. The poverty and outrage seen today will be trivial compared to half a billion people living on barren land with no skill or education to compete on the world markets. That is disastrous. Democracy and capitalism can and will change that.

The reasons are for 9/11, Saddam was harboring terrorists, Bush had to avenge the man who wanted to kill his father, to further the fight for terrorism, to bring democracy to the middle east, to free the people from dictator, to give them a better way of life. These are some of the reasons.

Now the real reasons that will take a small hunting trip with the VP but I wouldn't advice that...

Why are we in war? Good question!!! There are different reasons all the time.. first it was WMD, then it was this, then it was that. The only people who really know why we are at war are the war mongers in Washington. Bush talked about going after Iraq the first week of his first term.

Maybe you can write Washington and find out for the rest of us. If you find out the "real" reason we are at war, please...by all means... let me know!!

It's most likely best to research both the State Department's website, as well as the US Senate's website, since those are where our official diplomatic stance and Declaration of War came from.

We wanted to "liberate" a couple of countries from the regimes that we thought would foster or harbor international terrorists. A laudable goal. Don't ask me why we're STILL fighting in Iraq or what we're fighting for there now, because I just don't know.
