I need input in trying to help a Nonprofit group(s) in the CNY area obtain funds to assist in their ability to help the community. I offered my marketing resources, grant research and writing and volunteering my services for free for a whole 3-years. I do not live in the city but would like to. I would travel 15 miles each way to attend community meetings just to find out how I could be of assistance I told them my services would be free until they got past the ground stages, then we could discuss my fees which would have been low and put back into the community.. They then said we are not there yet and would not need such services until they found a building to purchase for what we are trying to do which is still not determined. They currently have a a very small budget of less than $20k and have a 503c status in real estate which would be a great help in the area. Not sure if I should walk away from them or continue to try and help in lieu of their ignorance?

Hi thanks for your help with networking. a bit basic, but thanx anyway. I live in East london (UK) and have done a lot to help youth centres and my local comminity, but know how hard it is to work with charities- they just dont get it sometimes LOL. I think the best thing you can do is offer your services and let them decide. maybe if you simply had more 1-2-1 conversations with people and had more of a feel for who runs things in the local community and who are the power brokers etc, you would achieve more. I know from experience that its very ahrd to work with ppl who are from outside the borough and so dont understnad local issues. Maybe you coming across as some do-gooder who has no idea? thats just my thoughts though. This is my first answer and i am totally new to this. I wanted to try and say thanx for your answers. So thanx!LOL

Your charity work is admirable. But your question here, leaves much to specualtion. What is your goal with them? Are you sure you are trying to help? If you are in it for the money, IT IS time to walk away. If not, then why even be doubtful with a question here?
