vick, i should say applicable intelligence...
intelligence is only useful in its function.
Intelligence without pragmatic application
is as useless as the rear teats of an old bull(remember, bulls don't have teats).
smart people that aren't rich are lazy
and just like to beat off to internet porn

Tom D......Einstein was a genius..we're
just talking 120-140 IQ smart...lawyers,
bankers, indian chiefs, etc........Now, what
you should ask is, would you rather be
William gates III or Einstein.
Would you want to run the most powerful
software empire in the world, control the largest charitable foundation in the world, and be worth more than half of the GNP of the combined countries of the civilized world..........or would you like to be tenured
at Princeton, get a few pics in life magazine, and jot a few fancy scribbles
on paper that no one can make hide nor hair of?.............I'll take Mr.gates, thank you.....Einstein can have his scribbles,
plus he never got the united field theory
downpact anyway........ LOL

From what I've seen around me, I think that being rich is actually less improving to peace of mind. The more you have, the more you have to lose. And the more you have, the more you spend, so the more luxuries you have to lose if you lose your money. Lastly, the more you have to lose, the more selfish you become about not losing it. Which is why most of the more well-off people I've met have been absolute jerks. I'd rather be a little poor, and know the value of the really important things in life, like love, family, and innate beauty, than have money and spend it on buying good connections, having people fight each other over my goodwill (who gets to have some of my money), and filling huge houses full of pretty pictures (so that only I can look at them), which the whole world should be allowed to enjoy in a museum.

I'm smart enough to avoid all the hassle that comes with being rich, like hiring staff for my house(s), paying too much in taxes, pondering which private school is "right" for my kids, having to buy fifty new flat panel televisions to fill up my mansion(s), keeping the Rolls' operational, worrying that I left the heat on in the pool at the house in the south of France now that I'm in the Beverly Hills mansion.

OK, you're right. I'm probably not that smart.

Smarts doesn't equal richness - look at Einstein.

Nonetheless, I'd rather be Einstein than some rich clueless person. Most of those dumb lottery winners squander their winnings foolishly, and end up unhappy anyway.

Because I despise the human race. Why would I want to do anything for a species that constantly desecrates itself? Why would I want to contribute to a way of life that is totaly ridiculous? One can have the brains, but the mass gets the land.

You're forgetting all of the people who actually are rich, and go on Yahoo! Answers in their freetime, which is a lot of freetime. Here because of an Internet addiction apparently.
