The books are by Gregory Maguire and they're not really a series, just books based on fairy tales. I personally, have enjoyed every single one of them, but especially Son of a Witch, which is a sequel to Wicked. The rest of the titles are:

Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister
Lost
Mirror Mirror
Son of a Witch
Wicked

He has also done some children's books, which are also kinda cute and clever

Leaping Beauty
Four Stupid Cupids
The Good Liar
Seven Spiders Spinning
Six Haunted Hairdos
Three Rotten Eggs

These books have a male author, Gregory Maguire. They are good, especially Wicked. I also liked both Mirror, Mirror and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. This also a follow-up to Wicked called Son of a Witch which was okay

I read both Wicked and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Personally I didn't care for either of them, although my friend loved them. Stepsister was better than Wicked.
They are intelligent and original and well-written, but depressingly post-modern and empty of soul. Like, it flips your regular perception of the story upside down, but doesn't really raise a question about whether this alternate world is better or worse or anything.
If you're at all interested in them, give it a try, just so you can form your own opinion. Like I said, my friend loved them, so it may be just personal...

I personally didn't like the book but I haven't seen the musical. The whole thing is just a little wierd. Unsettling, I guess would be the word. I haven't read any of his other books because Wicked really turned me off. I read the cover and thought it sounded really good but it has the same feeling as Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty novels without being catagorized as Erotica.

Gregory Maguire wrote Wicked and Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister. While I enjoyed both, I must admit Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister was my favorite. (He also wrote Mirror, Mirror--which I haven't read yet)

properly those are through one's own criteria; maximum folk come to a regular consensus, even with the indisputable fact that the perspectives of what those "bases" are determination. some have little censorship, even as others imagine *in elementary words* fourth base calls for penetration. typically talking, that is what i imagine they're: 1st Base = Kissing. second Base = Fondling/ Making Out. third Base = Groping 4th Base = each and every of ways!! some human beings say there is not any longer a lot of a distinction between third and second; some human beings say third base can include Fingering or Oral. 4th base is particularly a lot each and every thing else: anal, penis-to-vag penetrating.

VERY GOOD. Well written, unique. Gregory Mcguire is a nice guy too, got great kids. Anyways, If you havn't read them all, READ THEM ALL!! The musical of course, doesn't follow the book all that well, but the producer and composer still made it a GREAT production. It is as good as Webber. I'm going to see it a second time this winter in either Boston or NYC. Go see it!
