Don't think it would help you at all like the wine does. Its not so much the alcohol (which is it's own actual molecule) as it is the polyphenols found in the wine -- which help with numerous systems inside your body.
I dunno about beer being too harmful for your baby, however, as the alcohol would be less in one beer than it would in one glass of wine.
On the whole, though, wines much better for you on multiple fronts -- as long as it's had in moderation.

Beer and wine are totally different. They say one glass of red or blush wine every other week is fine. Only because it has some ingredient in it that helps relax your uterus, or something like that. I hate wine so I haven't drank any. Anyways, I suggest a warm bath with some bubbles and maybe some type of bath salt to help relax you. Don't drink beer, it can affect you and the baby very badly.

Honestly, at this point, half a beer shouldn't do any damage. If you want it, go for it... BUT I don't think its the same as having a glass of wine... I believe there's more alcohol in one bottle of beer than in a glass of wine (if I'm not mistaken... I'm not a drinker so I don't really know)... so maybe just go for half a bottle...

That's wierd, I've never heard of that before.
Personally, I wouldn't be in the mood for wine or beer if I was going into labour.
Just have a bath to try and relax.

actually, neither...alcohol will relax uterine contractions & will actually prolong the start of labor.
when i was pregnant with my 3rd child, i was having some major contractions at my friends wedding that i was a bridesmaid in. i drank a 1/2 glass of champagne, & the contractions stopped. i went to my dr appt 2 days later, & i was dilated to 4 cm. my doc figures i was in labor but the wine stopped the contractions.
i ended up delivering the next day after my dr appt, but alcohol is a depressant, slows things down, not speeds them up.

It doesn't matter how much alcohol you drink it will not make you dialate. If you want to get your labor going drink a 4 oz. bottle of castor oil and walk walk walk, thee walking will help you start some contractions , the castor oil irritates the digestive track which rubs against the uterus fron the inside therefore causing contractions.Beer or wine will just make you tipsy.( to have cervical change you need contractions not alcohol)

Once the child is fully formed it's okay to have one beer or one wine with a meal. However, the best thing to help you along iwth labor is having sex. My OB's recommended it with both of my pregnancies.

i'm a large fan of cooking with beer, yet no longer for a white clam sauce. you could only miss the wine and upload somewhat squeeze of lemon juice if it really isn't any longer already contained in the recipe.
