i want to buy a palm pilot. can get an open box factory refurbished one or for about forty $$ more i can get a new one. all else is same,model etc.. only want it for a language learning program i have. any ideas? thoughts? would be appreciated. p.s. never had pda before .

Go refurb, I have 2nd hands running mobile video playing they are fine.

You could go as cheap as a used Palm III if you just want to use it to read and write. If you're lucky, an electronics superstore or computer chop shop (Like RE-PC) would have one for about 40 bucks. You can probably get one on Ebay as well.

If you want to listen, try using a Tungsten, TX, or LifeDrive of any sort. They all include actual sound support instead of an internal beeper that a lot of programs use now.
