You can make crystal formations (rock candy). I don't remember the exact measurements, but you saturate water with sugar. This means you dissolve as much sugar as you can in water without leaving crystals on the bottom. Then tape a piece of string/twine to the side of the glass/jar and lay over the edge and let it soak in the water. Crystals will form in a couple of days. Check the internet for an exact "recipe". Good luck.

Interesting experiments can be done with flowers, or even other small plants:
If a plant has wilted, add a 1/3 teaspoon of sugar to the water and if it is not too far gone, it will revive.
If it is too far gone, it will not have any effect. The plant will die anyway.
In a Vase, a little Sugar added to the water will help it to stay for a longer time without wilting.
It is a little stange, but if you add sugar to a healthy plant, it couild kill it.
A good experiment, that requires two plants at least for comparison.

Another experiment could be just letting the saturated solution of sugar fermenting. Add some baking yeast (just a little because you ask that we have to use only sugar and water) and cover the recipient with a plate or something like that.
In the course of the days you will get a quite different system.
