Symptoms: hot flashes, irritability, fatigue, feeling crampy & extremely emotional, some days a lack of appetite others can’t get enough 2 eat. I have been taking lo/ovral 28 BC pills w/a month’s break this last summer. I also miss a pill occasionally & don’t take them @ the same time on the wkends as the wkdays. I do get my per. when I am supposed 2 because of the pill. I have also been stressed & very busy, between my job & my internship I only get Sundays off & work doubles on Thursdays. I probably don’t get enough sleep, often wake up 2 early & can’t fall back 2 sleep. I work out 3 times a wk doing calisthenics & using dumb bells. I also try 2 eat healthy, take vitamins daily, drink lots of H2O & stay away from caffeine. I have a boyfriend of 11 mths & have never had kids. My mother & gr-mother both went in2 menopause in their mid 40’s. I very much want 2 have children. I am hoping 2 able 2 go the Dr. next wk but until then do U know of other possibilities to help me feel better?

I took the advice of one the answers and got the take home test for menopause. I have been on birth control pills so I got off of it on Sat and I'm going to take the test again in 30 days. However, it did come out negative both times so thats good so far. Maybe it's something else. Everyone has pretty good suggestions or answers and I want to say thank you for your input.

My Dr. made an appointment for Tuesday, 10/10/06, and then I will hopefully find out a week later. My birthday is on the 17th so hopefully it will be good news.

I hop its not menopause, cause you make me feel old as a guy at 44......i hate it when women in their theirties are already going through their changes....its too young....whats weird it I know women in their mid-30's going through it that look great, young, hot boady, no grey hairs...I guess the body just decides to do that, and its programmed..thats why I always tell women don't wait till long to do certain things...or get picky or think they have all the time in the world, cause nature is the cruelest teacher,
and when it talks, you just listen.......guys slow down too...just a different way, a bit slower, but the same kind of thing.....women
freak out though when it happens in the 30's...not that uncommon at all...though 40's is much more when it happens, and some lucky ladies flow uninterruptedly till their early 50's, and even have kids then..all ladies bodies are different..some stop flowing in the 30's..some 50's......thats just the way it goes..don't feel bad......who said life was fair anyway...god knows it isn't..
the worst thing of all is getting old and looking gross and hunched with wrinkles, so if you still have a good figure and looks, no one will know or care that you are going through menopause anyway!

All of your Symptoms are most likely do to your stress level. Most people don't realize the correlation between odd symptoms and stress. Being stressed out is causes your blood pressure to rise which in turn increases the bodies heart rate, dilates the blood vessels, and increases your BTU's. Basically you create more body heat -> hot flashes, and irritability; increased heart rate - > fatigue, felling cramps; blood vessel dilation -> irritability, and lack of appetite; and finally the extremely emotional part could be caused by anything so I can't help you there. Here's what you need to do - don't worry about things that you have not control over, even if you really want or need some-thing/one. Just let it go, take a hot bath eat a light meal and go to bed early. Remember "worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but in doesn't get you anywhere" ( Van Wilder, Nation Lampoon)

This is no midlife crisis..that's a ridiculous suggestion. Right now I would advise you to do nothing out of the ordinary. Continue what you're already doing until you see your OB/Gyn. Until you find out what the underlying cause for your symptoms is, don't take anything special or unusual no matter what herbs, vitamins, etc. people suggest. The fatigue may be due in part to your sleep problems. Make every effort to take your BC pills at the same time and without omitting doses. Hang on until your appointment.

I had all these symptoms awhile ago. I am 33 and my mom went through menopause early as well. I am not on any birth control, but I just had my tubes tied last March. I thought for sure it was menopause. Here I was diabetic, and had high blood pressure. I was stunned at the findings. Go to the doctor and just let him know all of your symptoms. Good Luck to You!!

They have tests now you can get at the drugstore to tell how close you are to menopause. It just may be your hormones messed up because of the birth control pills since hormones is what causes the sympoms of menopause anyway. Stress and lack of sleep can mess with hormones too. You are awfully young to be going through menopause but it happens to people sometimes younger than you.

Have your thyroid check to make sure something is not going on there. There is also test your doctor can do to determine if you are starting menopause.
