I have a long wine-colored, velvet, spaghetti-strap gown with a shawl made of some sheer material. The fabric suggests winter, but the style suggests summer to me. In which season would it be appropriate to wear it?

The dress you described is perfect for two seasons: Fall and Winter. My reasoing for this is both the color and fabric--wine is traditionally a Fall and Winter color and velvet should really only be worn in these seasons as well. Maybe it's the spaghetti straps that make you think "Summer." However, I went to a black tie affair last November and spaghetti straps, thin straps and strapless dresses were everywhere. Sounds like you have a beautiful dress!

OMG, I wish this was the only problem I had in life " to wear or not to wear" that is the ?

Tell ya what, look at some of the homeless people in the world and then ask yourself if this is really that important ...or do you consider yourself so shallow that it really matters ?

pssst, winter, summer, spring or fall, long wine-colored, velvet spaghetti-strapped gown with shawl... I think it's a good choice.

I dont know anyone who wears wine colored velvet at anytime other than winter, the straps are there to make you look sexy and the shawl is there to keep you a tiny bit warmer...

the added accessory that you dont know about right now is the jacket that is lent to you from a sexy stud when your chilly...

its meant to be a pick up gown....

good question right here. you should in simple terms no longer positioned on a nighttime gown to a daylight hours affair. what's acceptable for a suitable afternoon wedding ceremony might want to be a cocktail gown, in simple terms below the knee. The gown should be of a brighter color (no longer black or brown), and may no longer be red or white - imagine vegetables, blues, yellows, and so on. convey a magnificent scarf or pashmina to praise your gown (you'll get them inexpensively at any branch keep). Formal is the likes of clothing that kinda resemble bridesmaid form clothing, yet with extra form and element. do not positioned on some thing bearing too a lot cleavage and do not positioned on a summer sundress.

With this one, the color and fabric make the gown one for winter, especially if you wear the shawl with it. It sounds very pretty!

I would have to agree that the gown is for winter based on the colour and fabric. I'm sure there is a coat somewhere that's appropriate for that dress.

velvet is not for summer
It's a fall/winter gown and is fine with the shawl.

If you wear it in the summer you can wear it by itself and if you wear it during the winter time or fall wear a shawl that matches with it... i`m sure you'll look beautiful no matter what

Well, it says winter and late Fall to me. Sounds like a lovely gown, by the way.

Winter because it is velvet. It is all based on fabric not style.
