what you mean connect both ?? the one that is bad you install it then the other does not work? check your grounds ? contacts inside the light housing ?

You've got a high resistance connection someplace. Most likely the socket itself. It doesn't show up until there is a fairly substantial current being drawn.

Chech the wiring harness earth cable, it could be loose or rotten.

Yup....bad ground wire or connection.
