I watched a few scenes here and there, but didn't catch what happened right before the ending........can anyone explain to me why the ending happened the way it did?

i love that movie.. if i remember correctly, lucas was a HUGE nerd, like steve urkel but worse. but he wanted to be "cool" so he kept following the cool crowd and eventually wanted to play football. some of the popular crowd were nice to him, but the rest were horrible. anyways, at the end i think he played football and he almost died because all of the football guys jumped on him, and his head was like all crushed and his glasses broke...and i think he proved to everyone that he had a lot of heart and they ended up hoisting him up on their shoulders? i can't remember if he died or not, but either way the popular kids started respecting him. also look for winona ryder as the typical "weird" freaky girl she used to play!! :)

Didn't Lucas run on to the football field to save the big game but got tackled? In the end, Lucas finally notices that the Winona Ryder character has a crush on him.

Hm, i can't quite remember the ending, but i did see that movie a billion years ago. Didn't the chick and sheen hook up? All i remember is that lucas was faking about being rich, when he actually lived in a trailer shack.

OMG, I love that movie so much! I can't remember what happens at the end though. That was another one of those 80's movies that I just loved!

"sasmallworld" is totally correct...you should give her the 10 pts! That's how it happened!! I like that movie so much...it's kinda sad, but it has a good ending!!
Oh...and he doesn't die at the end!!
