The mechanic that I usually go to is being a sexist because he thought that he could add water in place of antifreeze, I wouldn't know any better. That pissed me off so I stopped by Pepboys to buy the liquid and do it myself. So, I'm wonder, where do I dunk the anitfreeze once i've drained it out of my car?

I bought the 50/50 antifreeze.
The mechanice only added water to the antifreeze that was already in the system. And, I'm pretty sure the antifreeze in my car has already been diluted. The only reason I took my car to the mechanice was because the "check" light on my car came on.

Take it to a place that recycles antifreeze. Many auto parts stores do this free of charge. If you can't find a place, call your local fire station and ask them. Frequently, fire departments have hazardous waste collection days when you can take the stuff to them and they'll dispose of it properly.

Now wait a second, did the mechanic add some water to the antifreeze already in the cooling system? Or was your car completely drained and only water was added??
Its ok to add water to an antifreeze system, any good mechanic will tell you that. Also most any good mechanic will test the antifreeze with an antifreeze tester to see if either water or antifreeze needs to be added. This is done with a simple test meter available at any auto parts store. It basically tells you how far down in temperature the antifreeze will go before it freezes.
Now the second part, if he only added water, test the antifreeze with the tester.
If the mechanic emptied the entire system and filled it up completely with water, then drain it on the ground, if its just water.

Pepboys might take that back or other auto parts stores. Make sure that you mix your antifreeze with water. 1 gallon of antifreeze mixed with 1 gallon of water. (check to make sure that you bought full strength antifreeze and not a 50-50 premix) The easiest way to make sure you have a 50-50 mixture is to dump 1 gallon of antifreeze into radiator. Then add on gallon of water. Take your empty antifreeze bottle and fill it half full of water and fill the rest from your second gallon of antifreeze. You can shake that up and add as much as needed to top off radiator. Once mixed, you can leave on your shelf in garage for future needs.

Actually you can recycle the anti freeze at some auto parts stores. Just bring it in an old jug of some sort. Ask around at the national brands auto part stores - they have barrels for that. Do not dump it on the ground - it causes death in animals.
