Music is so popular because it resonates with a primordal urge within us. Every culture throughout time has had some form of music. It is almost instinctual, unfortunately in the case of music as we get more civilized our primordal needs and urges are more easily forgotten or overcome. Ever notice that as people get older they tend to listen to music less and the music that they remember most is usually things they listened to in High School or College, a time when they primordal urges were at their highest.

I guess basically music speaks to some people, entertains, keeps your mind off things and music makes you think and of course just to keep you from being bored.

music is the essence to the soul it makes us feel good feel happy and it makes the days go by faster it is entertaining and good to sing along. it is a sleep relaxer. It makes some people work better .

Because through our music we can express our personality and jour emotions. When we can't figure out how to express ourselves, we can just turn to music to do it for us!

music is just wonderful. it's a way people can freely express themselves, and other people can relate to it. I can't really describe it...but I don't know what I would do without music.

Music is a true emotional stimulus. It can make you feel many different ways. You could even say it's a mood-altering drug, without the drugs. :)
