We've tried everything...so, does anyone have any solution to what this problem is, or how we can fix it? We have Windows XP. We hope to find the problem and fix ourselves before seeking a computer repair shop. Nothing shows up on virus scans, or spyware scans, yet when we go back to the computer after it has gone into screensaver mode, the screen is black, and will not do anything, and when we reboot, up comes the blue screen of death! Is there anything we can do at this point, and what is this coming from??? I would hate to think our computer "crashed", it is just a year-1/2 old. Thanks for any tips.

Hard to diag this - if you google the stop error code this can give you clues

Also when saying physical memory dump this may lean towards a problem with the ram - BUT not always - best way and the quickest way to find this out is to do a test outside of windows - visit the link below for a memory diag from MS - run this and if shows errors then it will be a hardware fault

If no error found then a little bit more diags are needed

If you are abole to get into safemode

click start > control panel > adminstrator tools > event viewer

on the left three options > application > system > security

click on the left application > look for any errors on the right > double click on these and this should give you a description > google this info again can give you vital clues

do the same with the system > again google the results - Beware you will get some errors because you have gone into safemode - ignore DCOM and anything related to TCP/IP and anything to do with networks

Hope this helps

Need any further help either IM (if i'm online) me or email me with the results

Boot into safe mode. Since you have Windows XP it should ask you if you want to recover or roll back to a previous date. Roll back to the date before it started blue screening. You will not lose any data, but any programs that you installed after that date will have to be reinstalled. Do those one at a time, one of them might be responsible for your blue screen.

Physical memory dumps are not usually software related. More often than not it is a hardware conflict. The most common hardware cause is a failing stick of ram, but other hardware can also cause it. You can either buy a stick of ram and change out one stick at a time until you isolate the bad stick, hire a professional, or deal with the problem. Physical memory dumps are annoying, but not usually damaging by themselves.

Could be software or hardware thats causing the crash. You need to identify the string in the Blue Screen of Death (BOSD) might be something like: STOP 0x0000007B (INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE). This string will help find the source of the trouble. Might be easiest if you just email me the code that it is returning and I can hopefully find the source.

As the others said - go into safe mode.

To go into safe mode, turn off the computer. Turn it on again and while it is "booting" press the F8 key. windows will give you a menu - select the one that says "...safe mode..."

then follow the suggestion of the second answer.
