Bush is just trying to form friendly relations because he feels he needs Pakistan to support him. Since many people in his own country are opening their eyes. Karzai too, and Bush finally wants to start looking for Bin Laden again. Even after saying that Bin Laden is "not priority #1" in the War on Terror.

Look at my Fox News report (yes, even fox reported it) which shows how Bush didn't think Bin Laden was a big deal.

Why does it matter? Democracy doesn't need promoting, and it's not the job of the West to try and ram it down everybody elses throats. Pakistan is an important ally.

Why do people think that America's allies must always reflect American principles? I'm a strong Bush supporter but even he seems to want everyone to be like us. I don't give a rat's *** if some ten-horn dictator axes a bunch of his own people. As long as he is our ally. Former idiot president Jimmy Carter didn't support the Shah of Iran--a strong American ally for decades--because he was a ruthless dictator. The result was good ol' Ayatollah Khomeini. America should never be too picky about who our allies are. As long as they are reliable puppets for the U.S. it shouldn't be a problem.

Would you prefer that the Taliban take over Pakistan?
His government is the only thing standing between the Taliban and good relations with the West.
The question should be is, "aren't we appreciative that a Pakistani leader is helping us in the fight against Jihadists?"

I think that the Pakistani president is in a difficult position. He does not want Afghanistan to be the enemy. I HOPE Bush has encouraged him to do the right thing and rid his country of Taliban training camps and discouraged him in letting Taliban forces cross into Afghanistan from his country. It's better to have allies than enemies.

As shaky as the alliance is it is proof we need friends, and we need all the help we can get. I hate to make comments on the Iraq war because of so many conflicting reports, starting before the invasion and since.

I don't know--why do we consider Saudia Arabia an ally, although they treat their women horribly and most of the 911 hijackers are from there?
