can i fund a bank account "checking" by funding the debit card using the ATM machine?

Question

I have a checking account with a Visa debit card. I use the card to withdraw money from the checking account.
i need to fund my account. can I do that by funding the Visa debit card, using an ATM machine?

plz note: Debit card, not Credit.

okay, by "i need to fund my account" Do you mean, you need to make a deposit into your account?
If that is what you mean, then yes you can make a deposit into your account, but only at your Bank's ATM. You'll notice there are ATM's that belong to different banks, while you can withdraw from these "foreign ATMS" You cannot deposit money into them. Also, be aware that the deposits aren't effective immediately. While you may make a deposit at 8 pm, it does not mean that it is going straight to your account. Most banks do not service their ATM machines until around lunch the next business day.

well debit cards are direcly link to your checking acct NOT a credit line or anything...it all come from and goes into your checking acct. when you use it as a visa its just takes longer to come out. you can use an atm to put money in your account with your debit card you just need to use your banks atm, other banks CANNOT take deposits for other institutions...i hope that all made sense

normaly your first deposit has to be made inside the bank to open the account with the proper paperwork and Identification, afterwards you can deposit whatever you want into your checking account using you debit or atm card usually they're one and the same,you will need your card, pin number and a special deposit slip and envelope endorse any checks, add any cash to it in the envelope. they have a special slot for you to put it through just follow through and enter in the maount you will be depositing into your account. when done don't forget your card and receipt.

Some atms accept deposits, just depends on the bank and/or atm.
