Would you like some cheese to go with that whine? You liberal @$$es can dish it out but you can't take it apparently...the liberals controlled the media in this country by an overwhelming majority for over 30 years, and you didn't hear Republicans whining about that, did you? Now that conservativism is getting equal time and you liberals don't have full control over the news anymore you're getting pi$$y because Americans are for the first time since JFK seeing something on TV that actually resembles the TRUTH?!?!!

Well you riled them up with this one.The Christian Right has become very saavy. They have penetrated the pop culture music scene and the mega churches are really bringing out a consistent political message.
I really don't believe in a "liberal" media. I believe in a ratings oriented media. I completely agree that they editorialize way more than they should. And they should stop inventing news and just report it. But they believe their 30 minutes of new each day is about entertainment. There is so much going on in the world, but instead of telling us about some of it...they do their silly stories about the latest diet fad or some other just ridiculous tripe that doesn't need to be on the news.
My conservative friends have complained about the "liberal" media for years...on and on.... Frankly, I just think they id anything they don't like to hear as being "liberal". Fox gave them what they wanted...a message consistent with their own view of the world. And that's fine, but let's not pretend it isn't "conservative" media.

One should not be so quick to draw conclusions, but rather should observe everything as objectively and dispassionately as possible. First of all, there is a definite manipulation of the media (or outright control, manipulation is too soft of a word). But one should not be so quick to assume that the Republican Christian Right "pulled it off". There might be other forces behind the current and recent trends toward disinformation and mass distraction. People should ask themselves tough questions and examine their long-held beliefs. Liberals should examine carefully the Conservative viewpoints (without judging them), and Conservatives should examine carefully the LIberal viewpoints as well (also without judging them). Both sides should try to "take on" and "wear" so to speak, the other's points of view to see if maybe there is any merit to them, or maybe any merit to criticism of their own side. And other thing- people see things according to how they classify them, but things have a deeper reality than just by how we choose to label them. What i mean is, there is more to the political spectrum than Liberal vs. Conservative. If people can only think in that dichotomy, thinking that all possible questions and answers can only be asked, answered and thought about using "Liberal" and "Conservative" viewpoints, then new, original ideas will never be born and we will all be stuck in a never-ending cycle of "Conservatives Rule with Liberals Opposing" and "Liberals Rule with Conservatives Opposing". Other countries of the world have a multi-party system, where there may be several (more than two) parties who share power to varying degrees and also work together to varying degrees on problems facing their society. The fact that there is a two-party system in the US where things become deadlocked to the point that major problems do not get solved adequately because there is too much animosity and friction between them- that should be a wake-up call that there is a need for new, fresh thinking. There may be problems so colossally complex and compelling happening in the future that cannot be solved by the limited viewpoints of either "Liberals" or "Conservatives", that we will wish we had learned to think outside of the political box instead of just falling in line with what one or the other side says. Can they both be right? Can neither side be right? Can there be manipulation of the media by "both" sides? Or might there be manipulation/control of the media by some third party that people are unaware of? These are the questions that thinking people should aim to ask. and investigate ON THEIR OWN. Do some original research on your own- don't just use media passively. And question what you read, hear, and see in the media- no matter what "side" it comes from. Question your "opponent's" side as well as questioning "your" side. Ultimately, you should seek to understand both sides so well that you never fall into the trap of seeing either side as "yours".

We do have freedom of the press. Who do you think owns most of the papers and the networks? They are not Mom and Pop operations and are owned by large corporations. So the people with the money own most of the papers. The liberal media is a myth. News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch's little kingdom owns 175 newspapers world wide, besides FOX and numerous publishing houses and other production outlets. GE runs NBC and Disney owns ABC...liberal media my a**!

Are you really that stupid? The Republican Christian Right has never manipulated the media. It has only been since FOX news that they have even gotten a little better coverage. Maybe you need a history lesson!

Because the media, not unlike most people, are easily seduced by power and the proximity to powerful people. And then, its all about money too - so they do what financially benefits them.
The real problem with that is that it is their role to keep government honest and the people informed. Sadly, they have become entertainers.
The only reporter who can legitimately be called a journalist, and has and courage, is former sports reporter Keith Olbermann.

That is a very good question!
And I really don't know the answer. But I can tell you they have been sneaking their closed mined people into all sorts of political and media places for the last 20 years or so.
My sister ran christian summer camps for many years that effectively brain washed the poor kids that went to them. It should be against the law. Sorta like a cult, but a very big one.
