I have the same problem, too. Maybe its because we say it as we see it.

i used to have the same problem
and thought i was totally good with others
till one day i asked some guy with me at school
used to be an enemy
am i that bad so we are enemies or have i done anything....
he said no but you are snob and i thought that way you
may talk to me
and since he is one of my friends
not close but a friend he's there and i am here for him
in case we need a friend, u know
so the people who really dont know me think i am snob
because i dont socialize well with strangers
or people i am not used to
so i had more enemies
then i did my best by smiling and became talkative
and befriend anyone as long they r good

maybe u don't take the time to Cultivate friends.. i think u look within yourself first. if u are the Best person, man, Friend u can be, and u have no friends, truly that is odd, and could be because u are unlucky and are surrounded by fools. but if u are not the Best person u can try to be, and u question why u don't have friends, u have nothing to fall back on, nothing to argue. there is something that u are lacking in what a "good friend" looks for. therefore, first work on urself. when u are confident that u are totally great, understanding person and friend, THEN ask the question why. :)

Because your smarmy and full of yourself. Judging by your screen name you probably go about trying to impress people with your knowledge, but manage to rub them the wrong way with your condescending attitude. Also, having spent so many years in academia you lack the social skills to relate to people you think are beaneath you. Women are bored by you and men are left unimpressed we won't even go into kids and dogs.
