And just who do you trust to be completely impartial? I can't think of anyone that the other side wouldn't object to.

What needs to happen is for people to actually get into BIG trouble for cheating. There are the "snowbirds" that vote twice in every election. There are people who have been voting for their dead relatives for decades. Why isn't this looked into?

One way to eliminate 90% of voting fraud is to insist on picture ID when voting. The government can give a free ID card to ANYONE that asks - regardless of income. That way no one can say that they couldn't get the ID card and couldn't vote. BTW - I would include that you MUST prove US citizenship before getting any government ID cards (driver's license, state ID card, etc.). Only US citizens should vote in our elections. That's the way it works in every other country.

Every state has it's own rules for the elections (as is mandated in the Constitution). Most, if not all, have bi-partisan commissions that are in charge of vote counting. This means that members of both parties must be present for the counting, agree that it is accurate, and sign their approval.

Fraud is possible, but highly unlikely. We don't need foreign observers. You might as well just admit to the world that we are a bunch of incompetent babies. No wonder we're becoming more of a joke to the world.

Yes, the UN does things like that, but even they can be fooled. The problem is in the system with no paper trail there is no way to validate the votes. We still need to vote to try and make the elections as fair, open and honest as we can.

Why? If the election didn't come out how you would have hoped you would just blame the impartial monitor as well.

Here's what will happen: If a Democrat wind in '08, the election is on the up-and-up. If a Republican wins, there must be voter fraud. Who wants to disagree?

I completely think we need impartial observers, because I cant believe bush was elected without some sort of fraud, so some one has to monitor it to make sure an imbecile like bush never ever gets within sight of the white house, ever again.

It really does not matter, the only way Dems will think that the election was fair is if they win.

They are sore losers plain and simple!
