I don't know! I used to watch IFC and those channels. I thought that there was a lot of darkness in many of the Gay movies. I see that has changed now.
I would say tht the movies that I can remember the names to that were "Independent" sorts are:
Angel (It's an old movie, I think that's the name, it might have been Little Angel)
And L.I.E., which was about a kid dealing with his sexuality while his father was crap.
It wasn't really a Gay movie, but if you ever get to see Prospero's Books, that was pure movie art! I loved it.

This dates me, but anything with Jeff Stryker would be interesting..and certainly eye opening .... His movies were always.... big! On the other hand, his movies have caused more inferiority complexes in Gay men than any others I can think of...such is life.

Honestly I would rent the movie "rent" I loved it... and it is a good movie to just chill with.

Not exactly totally gay..but Come back to the 5 and dime Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean is always one of my favourites...powerful female acting..cher..kathy bates..karen black..sandy dennis......
